Pictured: me holding the hardback US edition of my novel, Wolf in White Van, on the day I got it from Farrar, Strauss & Giroux: today, Thursday, August 21, 2014. Not to get all emotional with you but the first real ambition I ever had was to be an author. As a child I dreamt of seeing my name on book jackets. Now I am covering up most of that name with my hand, but yet refuse to re-take the picture, because I feel my deep-game goth powers are so strongly in evidence here that it must be shared as-is to give hope to both the revealed & the crypto-goths.
Huge, huge thanks to all who brought me to this day - teachers, friends, all of you who’ve listened to my songs or read stuff I’ve written and connected with what you found there, who believed in me - may I always be worthy of your support!
Finally, because people will ask so why not get it out of the way up front: the lyric at the piano behind me is “Beyond the Mysterious Beyond” from The Land Before Time 7: The Stone of Cold Fire, a song which I can totally sing the hell out of, and you don’t have to take it from me, you can ask my son, who insists that I sing it at least eight times a day, which I do cheerfully and I’d do a ninth time, too, if he wanted, because, as I am always asking in my better moments, why the hell not.

Big ups to Warrick Dunn. The retired pro football player has just given away his 139th home to a single mother. His charity helps families by giving single moms a home. He know the importance; he became the head of his household at age 18 when his mom, who was an off-duty cop, was murdered by some armed robbers. Oh, and props to him also for graduating last year with his MBA from Emory. If you want to get involved in what Warrick is doing, check out his website: http://www.warrickdunn.com/platform.html
I’m not going to use this space to unnecessarily tear anyone down, but I will say that there are some guys who’ve been involved in the same organizations as Mr. Dunn that should consider his example.
